It was a great privilege to be invited to judge the Turkey YCC show in 2018. I travelled with my fellow judges René Laarman, Keith Williams and Bill Mayne. We were met at the airport and taken to our hotel. We had time to relax, a great meal and we all felt the buzz and excitement all birdmen feel before a show.
The next morning, after a leisurely breakfast we were taken to the show hall. Everyone was busy entering birds, organising the judging stands and doing all the preparation required for such a great show. Around 1500 birds were entered for competition.
The show hall was the upper part of a large two storey building. The ground floor hosted the sales area, a large selection of bids and equipment were on sale. It was a hive of activity and great to see. My fellow judges and I all thought that the show hall was very good. Some exhibitors later told us that they much preferred to previous hall. I cannot comment other than to say that the cost of the Hall has to be the the main consideration. Every event has to pay for itself?
The judging began around 11-30. Each of us had two hardworking stewards who knew their job well and were very attentive to our requirements. At around 5 pm we were ready to select our best seven. The class winners were all outstanding birds. The selection went well, all of us in agreement with the final choice of winners. The results were as follows

The judging and overall presentation of the birds was much improved by the use of foldaway show cages. These cages are the same size as the Yorkshire Canary Club standard. They were easy to handle to examine and compare the exhibits, a positive move forward by the TYCC in my opinion.
How good were the birds? In my opinion the overall standard was excellent . All the buff birds and the green marked yellow birds had excellent feather quality. The clear yellows had a hard feather.
The following morning we returned to a busy show hall and sales area. We judges were available to talk to exhibitors and give an opinion where required. The atmosphere was pleasant and the exhibitors knowledgeable.
The presentation followed. All the show an class winners receiving trophies.
Throughout the whole weekend we were treat extremely well. The organisation was top class It was an honour to be part of such a wonderful event. Our thanks go to Mussa, Hakan and everyone associated with the TYCC. I would urge all Yorkshire breeders in turkey to support them along with the organisers of other shows in your county. It can be hard work running a club, I know, I help run two myself!Steve Edmond

TYCC 2018 İzmir Yarışması na hakem olarak davet edilmiş olmak benim için büyük bir ayrıcalıktı. Hakem arkadaşlarım Rene Laarman , Keith Williams ve Bill Mayne ile birlikte seyahat ettim. Havaalanında karşılandık ve otelimize götürüldük. Dinlenmek için yeterince vaktimiz vardı , güzel bir yemek yedikten sonra hepimiz yarışma öncesinde tüm kuşçuların yaşadığı heyecanı hissetmeye başladık. Ertesi sabah sakin geçen bir kahvaltının ardından yarışmanın düzenleneceği salonu götürüldük. Burada herkes kuşlarını yarışmaya sokmak , hakemlerin değerlendirme yapacağı standları düzenlemek ve bu büyük yarışmanın gerektirdiği tüm hazırlıkları yapmak ile meşguldü. Yaklaşık olarak 1.500 civarında kuş yarışmaya katıldı.
Yarışma salonu büyükçe 2 katlı bir binanın üst katında yer alıyordu. Zemin kat kuş satış alanı için ayrılmıştı. Bu alanda farklı türden birçok kuş ve malzemeler satıştaydı. Kalabalık bir etkinlikti ve bunu görmek gerçekten güzeldi. Hakem arkadaşlarım ve ben yarışma salonunu çok beğendik. Daha sonra gerçekleşen konuşmalarda bazı yarışmacılar bir önceki yarışma salonunu bu salona tercih ettiklerini bize belittiler. Burada göz önünde bulundurulması gereken en önemli şey yarışma salonunun maliyetidir. Bunu bilmeden diğer salon hakkında herhangi bir şey söyleyemeyiz. Düzenlenen her organizasyon kendi masraflarını karşılamak zorundadır.
Değerlendirme saat 11.30 gibi başladı. Her bir hakem için işini çok iyi bilen ve sıkı çalışan 2 adet görevli verildi. Bu kişiler bizim isteklerimiz karşısında çok dikkatli ve özenliydiler. Saat 17.00 gibi BEST 7 seçmek için hazırdık. Kategori birincilerinin tamamı seçim masasının üzerindeki yerlerini almıştı. Seçimler güzel geçti , hepimiz son aşamada hemfikirdik. Best 7 seçimi aşağıdaki gibi sonuçlandı.

Hakem değerlendirmeleri ve kuşların sergilenmesi portatif yarışma kafesleri ile çok daha iyi olmuştu. Yeni kafesler YCC standartları ile aynı ölçülere sahipti. Bu kafesler , kuşların rahat bir şekilde değerlendirilmesini ve birbirleri ile mukayese edilebilmesini kolaylaştırmıştı. Pozitif bir karar olduğunu düşünüyorum.
Kuşlar nasıl daha güzel olabilir ? Bence tüm standartlar müthiş bir şekilde uygulanmıştı. Tüm mat kuşlar ile alacalı parlak kuşlar kusursuz bir tüy kalitesine sahiptiler. Düz sarı intensive kuşların sert tüy yapısı vardı.
Ertesi gün kalabalık bir yarışma salonu ve satış alanı gördük. Hakemler olarak yarışmacılar ile sohbet etme imkanımız oldu ve gereksinimleri doğrultusunda fikir verdik. Ortam güzeldi , yarışmacılar bilgiliydi. Kupa töreni ile devam edildi. Derece alan yarışmacıların tamamı kupa ile ödüllendirildi.
Tüm haftasonu boyunca son derece iyi bir şekilde misafir edildik. Organizasyon çok üst düzeyde yapılmıştı. Böylesine güzel bir organizasyonun bir parçası olmak benim için bir onurdu. Hakan ‘ a , Musa ‘ ya ve TYCC ailesinin her bir üyesine teşekkürlerimizi sunuyorum. Ülkenizdeki tüm yorksihre üreticilerine Türkiye de düzenlenen yarışmaların organizatörlerini desteklemelerini ısrarla tavsiye ediyorum. Bir kulübü idare etmek zor bir iştir. Bunu biliyorum , çünkü 2 tane kulübün yönetimine yardım ediyorum.
